ASWC's Interns & Supervisees

Aspen Summit works with local universities to provide qualified master’s level counselors opportunities to engage in counseling in a supervised fashion while obtaining their required internship and practicum hours. All of our interns are from CACREP (Counsel for Accreditation or Counseling and Related Educational Programs) accredited universities and come to Aspen Summit well trained, and working to fine tune their counseling skill set. They each meet with the owner of Aspen Summit, Daniel Lechleiter, MA, LPC, ACS, weekly for supervision to ensure they are effectively meeting client needs.

Our current counselors-in-training (CIT) are:

Mel Babion, BS (She/Her)

Counselor-in-Training

Mel is a Colorado native that enjoys being around good company and playing board games. She discovered her passion for mental health and wanted to be a LPC since Pscyh 101 while pursuing her Associate's degree. She is motivated to work with the LGBTQIA+ population. 


Mel approaches therapy from an integrative humanistic and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approach. She graduated with her Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health from University of Northern Colorado in December, 2023.

Katie Holland (She/Her)

Counselor-in-Training

Katie has always felt drawn towards helping people and animals. She earned her BA in English Writing from the University of Colorado Denver and is pursuing her MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. Katie has compassion for unique and severely challenging experiences. She is especially interested in approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and existential therapy. 


In her spare time, Katie enjoys reading thriller and suspense novels, being outdoors, and spending time with her husband, young daughter, and two dogs.
